Platform 2 UAS Fleet Manager
Zipline
About Zipline
About You and The Role
We’re looking for a P2 Fleet Manager, someone who tracks every aircraft across test, production, and field sites, and builds the internal tooling to ensure operational readiness. You’ll maintain the live source of truth for every vehicle’s config, health, and allocation, while partnering with software and ops teams to surface insights, highlight risks, and drive utilization.
Whether you come from aviation, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or automotive systems, your understanding of complex hardware/software platforms, distributed operations, and data-informed decisions will be critical to enabling high-reliability, scalable deployment.
What You'll Do
-
Maintain real-time insight into the location, configuration, status, and readiness of all deployed and test aircraft
-
Oversee aircraft deployment and reallocation plans—prioritizing readiness for operations, testing, or engineering use cases
-
Coordinate directly with maintenance, production, and field ops teams to ensure asset availability and serviceability
Health Monitoring & Risk Management
-
Own fleet health reporting and anomaly tracking systems—integrating telemetry and operational data to detect trends or systemic risks
-
Work cross-functionally to escalate, root-cause, and remediate vehicle-level or system-level degradation
-
Lead proactive initiatives to extend uptime, reduce turnaround time, and improve part reliability
Tooling & Systems Integration
-
Collaborate with software and data teams to design internal dashboards, health monitoring tools, and fleet analytics systems
-
Drive process automation and decision-support tooling based on insights from real-world operations—similar to FMS or AV fleet data platforms
-
Support configuration management and data integrity across all aircraft digital records
Planning & Asset Management
-
Develop Fleet allocation plans that align with fleet growth, launch targets, and business needs and provide clear delivery targets & schedules to facilitate production planning
-
Track key metrics like fleet utilization, flight hours, maintenance intervals, and mission success rates
-
Support engineering and technical validation efforts by allocating aircraft and facilitating test coverage
Documentation & Standardization
-
Establish and scale consistent processes for fleet intake, deployment, issue tracking, and cross-team handoffs
-
Document asset status and configuration histories to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance (FAA Part 135)
-
Ensure enterprise-wide access to fleet insights for strategic and tactical decision-making
What You'll Bring
-
5+ years of experience in fleet management, autonomous vehicle operations, robotics deployment, aerospace systems, or automotive logistics
-
Demonstrated ability to manage high-value, software-enabled hardware systems across distributed operations
-
Familiarity with telemetry systems, health monitoring platforms, or vehicle fleet data
-
Proven success navigating cross-functional environments—balancing engineering, ops, and business priorities
-
Strong project management and systems thinking capabilities
-
Comfort with ambiguity, change, and building structure where none exists
-
Ability to travel to flight test, production, and commercial sites (20%)
Preferred Qualifications
-
Background in UAS, FAA-regulated flight operations, or Part 135 commercial logistics
-
Experience building or maintaining fleet dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Looker, custom monitoring tools)
-
Familiarity with digital twin systems, CMMS tools, or issue-tracking systems (e.g., Jira, internal tooling)
-
Exposure to hardware/software interface issues in real-time systems (e.g., robotics, EVs, drones, AVs)
