Do you want to change the world? Zipline is on a mission to transform the way goods move. Our aim is to solve the world’s most urgent and complex access challenges by building, manufacturing and operating the first instant delivery and logistics system that serves all humans equally, wherever they are. From powering Rwanda’s national blood delivery network and Ghana’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution, to providing on-demand home delivery for Walmart, to enabling healthcare providers to bring care directly to U.S. homes, we are transforming the way things move for businesses, governments and consumers. The technology is complex but the idea is simple: a teleportation service that delivers what you need, when you need it. Using robotics and autonomy, we are decarbonizing delivery, decreasing road congestion, and reducing fossil fuel consumption and air pollution, while providing equitable access to billions of people and building a more resilient global supply chain.
Join Zipline and help us to make good on our promise to build an equitable and more resilient global supply chain for billions of people.

About You and The Role

As one of a few Company level Program Managers, you will be focused on Field Operations Innovation. You’ll drive initiatives that make our global delivery network faster, more reliable, and easier to scale. From rethinking how we run maintenance on the ground, to improving the way we launch and maintain new hardware in the field, to reimagining how flight operators oversee national scale airspace, you’ll own programs that directly affect how well Zipline serves each customer—where our service meets the real world.

We’re looking for a strategic, execution-oriented leader who thrives at both operations and technology. In this role, you’ll be elbow to elbow in the office and in the field with cross-functional teams—including maintenance operations, flight operations, service engineering, customer support, logistics, construction, and engineering. You will work to deeply understand the problem, identify the biggest opportunities, design solutions, and deliver scalable, measurable improvements that impact every flight and every delivery.

At Zipline, Program Management goes far beyond just tracking and communication of a program. You will be the glue that holds cross-functional projects together, but also an empowered decision-maker, accountable for the velocity of our execution. You will join a team where everyone is committed to doing the best work of their life to fulfill Zipline’s ambitious global mission.

What You'll Do

You will serve as a hands-on Program Manager for complex, cross-disciplinary initiatives. Here are the types of challenges you’ll tackle:

  • Define and run the continuous improvement machine that improves operational quality and efficiently.
  • Identify challenges proactively and land improvements to stay ahead of Zipline rapid scale for both existing markets and launches in new markets.
  • Build new playbooks, processes, and systems that make Zipline’s operations more effective and adaptable.
  • Lead key projects that will deliver the tools operations needs to improve efficiency quality and increased scale.
  • Serve as a key interface between field teams and the rest of the business—ensuring local insights inform global priorities and vice versa.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, perform root cause analysis, and lead resolution of systemic issues.
  • Set and communicate program objectives and priorities.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate Program Plans.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives including resolving safety-critical issues and achieving a universally loved delivery experience.
  • Ensure critical cross-team efforts are well owned (including owning some yourself).
  • Lead cross-functional Program readiness reviews.
  • Continuously perform relevant risk and opportunity analyses to stay ahead of the game and address problems before they impact the customers or slow down scaling.
  • Provide clear updates at both the working and executive level.
  • Create, delete, and/or refine processes at every level.

What You'll Bring

  • You have a positive, can-do attitude that you harness to rally a team to make impressive progress day after day.
  • You naturally identify the critical path in a program and jump in with both feet to support the team in driving that critical path effort.
  • You have succeeded in a program management role with deep ownership of the outcome of projects.
  • You know how to motivate and inspire velocity in projects that include individuals from disparate teams.
  • You love to get hands-on in the field to build a first hand understanding of the operation and to build credibility as you push for, at times radical changes to drive improvement.
  • You have worked in fast-paced, high-growth environments that run an excellent continuous improvement machine not just in engineering but in operations as well.
  • You have an entrepreneurial disposition; you are able to creatively solve hard problems, get up to speed quickly, and bring a curious, can-do zest to all the challenges you face.
  • You approach the position with flexibility to meet the needs of the business to serve our customers with excellence

  • A bias toward action, problem solving, and getting things done.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, logistics, business, or related field. Able to understand very complex problems quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous environments, with rapidly evolving priorities.
