About the Hardware Reliability Team

The Hardware Reliability Team ensures that Zipline’s hardware works as consistently as possible throughout its operating life so our customers can depend on our service. Our responsibilities cover the entire product life cycle from designing for reliability through sustaining and failure analysis.

The Role

You’ll develop failure analysis techniques for electrical and mechanical systems. Your work will enable rapid iteration on next generation products and you’ll be mentored by the Hardware Reliability Team.

What You'll Do

  • Perform hardware debugging, root cause, and failure analysis
  • Use advanced imaging equipment such as microscopes and CT scanners
  • Reliability test planning and execution
  • Optimize performance of advanced instruments
  • Build instructional documentation to support new users of complex systems

What You'll Bring

  • Electrical and/or mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • A drive to tinker and understand why something doesn’t work
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Experience with cameras and image processing is a plus
  • Experience with electrical and/or mechanical CAD tools is a plus
  • Extreme ownership and a bias for action
  • Able to be onsite 5 days a week

What Else You Need to Know

Our internships are full-time positions, in-person at our South San Francisco office. We will host our Fall 2023 interns from September to December.

The starting cash range for this role is $34.00 - 38.00 / hour. Please note that this is a target, starting cash range for a candidate who meets the minimum qualifications for this role. The final cash pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and working location. The total compensation package for this role may also include: equity compensation; overtime pay; discretionary annual or performance bonuses; sales incentives; benefits such as medical, dental and vision insurance; paid time off; and more.
