ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A well-established and growing Colorado cannabis company is seeking a Vice President of Marketing to lead the marketing strategy and customer acquisition efforts. This is a highly analytical marketing leadership role focused on driving measurable customer growth, increasing traffic and revenue, and building a comprehensive strategy across multiple retail locations.

The ideal candidate is a data-driven marketer who understands that successful retail marketing starts with understanding the customer, identifying opportunities to drive traffic, and using data to continuously optimize performance. This is not a traditional brand or events-focused marketing role. The team is looking for someone who can connect marketing strategy directly to customer acquisition, store performance, and business results.

The VP of Marketing will work closely with leadership and operations to develop and execute a comprehensive Colorado marketing strategy, identify opportunities for growth, and establish clear KPIs to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Lead the overall marketing strategy across the company's Colorado retail footprint, with a strong focus on customer acquisition, retention, traffic, and revenue growth

● Develop and execute data-driven customer acquisition strategies across digital, CRM, loyalty, paid media, promotions, in-store marketing, and other relevant channels

● Analyze customer, sales, traffic, and marketing data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement

● Establish and manage marketing KPIs, dashboards, reporting, and performance benchmarks to measure ROI and inform decision-making

● Develop strategies to increase new customer acquisition while improving repeat visits, customer retention, and customer lifetime value

● Partner closely with retail leadership to understand individual store performance and develop localized strategies to drive traffic and sales

● Build a comprehensive understanding of the customer journey from acquisition through conversion, repeat purchase, and retention

● Evaluate marketing channels and campaigns based on measurable performance rather than subjective brand metrics alone

● Develop and manage the marketing budget, allocating resources toward the highest-performing initiatives and opportunities

● Oversee promotional strategy and evaluate the impact of discounts, offers, loyalty initiatives, and other customer acquisition programs

● Leverage customer and market data to identify opportunities for segmentation, targeting, personalization, and increased customer engagement

● Partner with retail, operations, merchandising, finance, and executive leadership to align marketing initiatives with broader business objectives

● Develop testing and optimization strategies to improve customer acquisition costs, conversion rates, traffic, revenue, and retention

● Monitor the Colorado cannabis market, competitive landscape, consumer behavior, and emerging opportunities to inform marketing strategy

● Lead and develop the marketing team, establishing clear priorities, accountability, and performance expectations

● Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations to executive leadership based on marketing and business performance

QUALIFICATIONS

● 8+ years of progressive marketing experience, including leadership experience overseeing marketing strategy and execution

● Strong background in customer acquisition, growth marketing, performance marketing, or data-driven retail marketing

● Experience developing marketing strategies for multi-location retail businesses

● Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable business strategies

● Demonstrated experience using customer, sales, traffic, and campaign data to make marketing decisions

● Experience developing and managing marketing KPIs, budgets, reporting, and ROI analysis

● Strong understanding of CRM, loyalty, digital marketing, paid media, customer segmentation, and retention strategies

● Experience partnering closely with retail and operations teams to drive measurable business results

● Cannabis industry experience strongly preferred, particularly within the Colorado market

● Experience working with multi-unit cannabis retail, consumer packaged goods, hospitality, or another highly competitive consumer-facing industry is a plus

● Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with executive and cross-functional teams

● Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment while balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Success in this role will be measured by the ability to build a marketing strategy that directly contributes to business growth. The VP of Marketing will be expected to establish a clear understanding of what drives customer acquisition and store traffic, identify the channels and initiatives producing the strongest returns, and continuously optimize marketing efforts based on performance data.
