Assistant General Manager / Supervisor

Vangst is partnering with a licensed cannabis dispensary in Millington, MD to hire an experienced Assistant General Manager / Supervisor. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, understands cannabis compliance, and enjoys leading teams on the floor.

Position Summary

The Assistant General Manager / Supervisor plays a key role in supporting daily dispensary operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This position works closely with the General Manager to oversee staff, manage inventory and POS systems, and maintain compliance with Maryland cannabis regulations and METRC requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and mentor dispensary staff to ensure high performance and professionalism
  • Oversee daily operations, including opening/closing procedures, inventory control, and staffing
  • Maintain strict compliance with Maryland cannabis regulations and METRC reporting (inventory tracking, transfers, adjustments)
  • Manage dispensary POS systems for sales accuracy, reporting, and inventory integrity
  • Coach staff to deliver exceptional customer service and resolve escalated customer issues
  • Partner with the General Manager on scheduling, labor planning, and operational strategy
  • Support promotions, merchandising initiatives, and product education efforts
  • Monitor KPIs and operational metrics to drive performance and profitability
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations

Qualifications

  • 2–3+ years of supervisory or assistant management experience in retail or cannabis dispensaries
  • Strong working knowledge of METRC and Maryland cannabis compliance regulations
  • Experience with dispensary POS systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable performing repetitive inventory and POS-related tasks
