With more than 15,000 small staffing agencies across the U.S., the consolidation opportunity is massive. We are actively meeting agency owners nationwide as we execute an aggressive acquisition strategy and we’re hiring a Business Development leader to help drive and scale that effort.

The Role

We are seeking a Business Development Lead, Staffing Acquisitions to source, develop, and advance acquisition opportunities with staffing agencies across the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of relationship-building, strategic sales, and M&A sourcing. You will be responsible for building meaningful relationships with staffing agency owners, generating qualified deal flow, and guiding opportunities from first conversation through closing in partnership with Vangst’s executive and legal teams.

This is a highly entrepreneurial role with significant visibility and impact as we scale through acquisition.

What You’ll DoDeal Sourcing & Relationship Development
  • Identify and source acquisition opportunities among staffing agencies nationwide
  • Build relationships with agency owners and industry leaders to generate consistent deal flow
  • Conduct proactive outreach through cold outreach, referrals, and network development
  • Attend staffing conferences, regional associations, and industry events to meet prospective sellers
  • Develop partnerships and referral channels that expand acquisition opportunities
Opportunity Qualification
  • Lead initial conversations with agency owners
  • Present Vangst’s vision, growth strategy, and acquisition approach
  • Evaluate strategic fit based on revenue, margins, customer base, and operational health
Deal Advancement & Execution
  • Partner with Vangst executive leadership, finance, and legal teams to evaluate opportunities
  • Support diligence processes and information gathering
  • Maintain relationships with sellers throughout negotiation and closing
  • Help ensure a smooth path to successful deal completion
Pipeline Ownership
  • Build and maintain a robust acquisition pipeline
  • Set and manage hundreds of agency meetings annually
  • Continuously source new opportunities while advancing active deals
Who You Are

You are a relationship-driven business developer who understands the staffing industry deeply and knows how to open doors quickly. You’re comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment and excited by building something category-defining. Your goal will be to close your first two deals in your first 12 months on the job, and you will be expected to hit the ground running.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in staffing, staffing technology, or selling into staffing agencies
  • Deep relationships and network within the staffing industry
  • Start-up mindset; “now not how”, failing is okay, speed over perfection
  • Extreme accountability and ownership mentality
  • Proven ability to generate meetings and build trust with business owners and operators
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder conversations
  • Willingness to travel frequently for conferences and in-person meetings
Nice to Have
  • Experience sourcing deals in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or corporate development
  • Background in M&A, partnerships, or strategic business development
  • Familiarity with financial evaluation or diligence processes
  • Experience working with founder-owned or owner-operated businesses
