Compensation: $70,000–$100,000 base
About the Role:
Vangst is partnering with one of our top clients in the Rochester, NY market to identify a talented Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst to join their team. This is a confidential search for a well-established organization operating within manufacturing, production, and consumer packaged goods (CPG) environments.
Position Overview:
The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst supports budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and performance analysis for organizations operating within manufacturing, production, and consumer packaged goods (CPG) industries. This role partners closely with Finance, Accounting, and Operations teams to deliver insights that drive efficiency, cost control, and informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Support annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning
- Build and maintain financial models aligned with manufacturing and production operations
- Analyze trends, risks, and opportunities impacting financial performance
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Perform variance analysis across volume, labor, materials, overhead, and margin
- Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses for leadership
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights
Operations & Business Partnership
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Accounting to support production and cost initiatives
- Analyze cost drivers, margins, and operational efficiency within manufacturing and CPG environments
- Support inventory, COGS, and production-related financial analysis
Process & Compliance
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and documentation of financial data and reporting
- Follow SOPs and internal controls in regulated or quality-driven environments
- Identify opportunities to improve forecasting, reporting, and financial processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- 3–7 years of FP&A, financial analysis, or operations finance experience
- Experience within manufacturing, production, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industries strongly preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ERP system experience required
- Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Exposure to standard costing, inventory, and COGS analysis
- Experience supporting cross-functional operational teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Prior experience in regulated or high-growth industries
