UX / Product Designer (Generative AI + Production Workflows)

Company: Staircase Studios AILocation: Remote (U.S. or Canada preferred; flexible by time zone)

Help design and refine tools that support real-world production workflows—bridging creative intent with clear, usable interfaces.

About Staircase Studios AI

Staircase Studios AI is building story-first tools and workflows that help teams develop, produce, and package film/TV and new-format content using generative AI responsibly. We’re a small, fast-moving team combining creative development with product thinking.

The Role

We’re hiring a UX / Product Designer to help design and refine tools that support real-world production workflows—bridging creative intent with clear, usable interfaces. You’ll collaborate closely with product, engineering, and creative stakeholders to simplify complex processes into intuitive experiences.

What You’ll Do

  • Design end-to-end user flows for AI-assisted production tools (creation → review → iteration → delivery)
  • Turn messy, real-world creative workflows into clear IA, interaction patterns, and UI systems
  • Produce wireframes, user journeys, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs in Figma with strong rationale
  • Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure feasible, high-quality implementation (and smooth handoffs)
  • Run lightweight user research: interviews, feedback sessions, usability checks, and rapid iteration loops
  • Establish and maintain design systems, components, and UX standards as the product evolves
  • Help shape UX strategy around creative control, consistency, permissions, and approvals
  • Bonus: Use or collaborate with Claude Code (or similar) to prototype UI concepts faster, communicate requirements, and explore interaction ideas alongside engineering

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years in UX/Product Design (or equivalent portfolio experience)
  • Excellent product thinking: can simplify complex tools into approachable UX
  • Strong interaction design, hierarchy, and usability instincts
  • Comfortable collaborating in ambiguous, early-stage environments
  • A portfolio showing shipped work (or realistic prototypes) with clear problem-solving

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with generative AI workflows (image/video tools, prompting patterns, iterative pipelines)
  • Experience designing creator tools, media tools, or workflow-heavy products
  • Basic understanding of film/TV production and/or post-production pipelines
  • Comfort working closely with creative stakeholders (writers, editors, producers, artists)

Tools & Environment

  • Figma (required), modern product collaboration stack
  • Claude Code
  • Comfort with iterative builds and frequent product feedback loops
