At Cvent, we’re committed to continuous learning and adaptation—AI isn’t just a tool for us, it’s part of our DNA. We’re looking for candidates who are eager to evolve alongside technology. If you love to experiment boldly, share your discoveries, and help define best practices for AI-augmented work, you’ll thrive here. Our team values professionals who thoughtfully integrate AI into their daily work, delivering exceptional results while relying on the human judgment and creativity that drive real innovation.

Throughout our interview process, you’ll have the chance to demonstrate how you use AI to learn, iterate, and amplify your impact. If you’re excited to be part of a team that’s leading the way in AI-powered collaboration, we’d love to meet you.

Cvent is seeking a hands-on, impact-driven Principal Software Engineer to accelerate AI-powered capabilities and developer efficiency within our Hospitality Cloud (HC) product lines. You will design and deliver production-grade AI solutions, modernize legacy services, and build advanced tooling that speeds migration to Cvent’s paved road—collaborating closely with SRE and Architecture to raise quality, performance, and velocity across teams.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Serve the HC Product Engineering teams in the design, development, and delivery of AI solutions, leveraging large language models (LLMs), agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into existing and new products, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high performance of AI-driven features.
  • Provide technical oversight and conduct analysis of AI-related requirements to align with Cvent’s paved road and architectural standards.
  • Collaborate with product, UI/UX, and project management to define AI solutions that meet business objectives and improve user experience.
  • Document and deliver training on AI systems, promoting re-use of AI tools and technology across HC and contributing to the broader Cvent AI ecosystem.
  • Contribute to CI/CD automation for AI solutions and build tools that enhance developer productivity and delivery speed.
  • Partner with SRE/Architecture to plan, execute, and accelerate code migration projects to paved road, including service decomposition, reliability hardening, and observability uplift.
  • Act as a technical mentor and multiplier—reviewing designs and code, modeling best practices, and raising the engineering bar across teams.

Here's What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of software development experience, with deep strength in Java and .NET/C# for enterprise SaaS systems.
  • Hands-on experience delivering AI/ML features to production, including LLMs, agents, RAG, embeddings, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Proficiency with AWS and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., CDK/CloudFormation, Terraform), plus strong knowledge of TypeScript and modern service/frontend ecosystems.
  • Strong coding and system design skills across algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, persistence technologies, and networking.
  • Excellent technical communication, with the ability to explain complex AI systems to diverse audiences and drive cross-functional alignment.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading by example, solving complex problems, mentoring engineers, and improving team velocity through tooling and standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience acting as a subject matter expert for AI platforms or developer tooling in an enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud strategy and AI architecture on AWS, including cost management, security, and observability for AI workloads.
  • Experience modernizing legacy MVC and webform applications and migrating them onto standardized paved road stacks.
  • Practical experience establishing prompt management, eval pipelines, safety/guardrail patterns, and A/B experimentation for AI features.
  • Strong stakeholder collaboration skills, with the ability to influence without authority and build consensus across product, design, SRE, and architecture.

Be a key technical leader modernizing HC and accelerating AI innovation at Cvent. Bring your expertise in Java, .NET/C#, AI/ML, architecture, and advanced tooling to build systems and capabilities that materially improve outcomes for our customers and engineers.
