Develop and drive the strategy for assigned products, with direct oversight of a team of Product Managers and indirect oversight across multiple functions for the scope of assigned products. Ensure the product delivers quantifiable value and is aligned to market requirements.

Job Summary:

The Senior Director, Product Management is responsible for the product visions and strategy and execution of the product delivery plans for a set of products. The role includes responsibility for defining the product vision and strategy and ensure effective delivery by defining and executing a product roadmap to meet those objectives and reach commercial success while operating within risk appetite. The role is directly accountable for the success of the product roadmap of the assigned product group, including delivery velocity, product quality and commercial success by managing a high performing product management team, collaborating effectively with clients, associated line of business and product development organization (primarily through the product trio).

Key Responsibilities:

Product Strategy

  • Define and implement the product vision and strategy to establish and maintain the continuous delivery of innovation and upkeep of products in line in the assigned product group with company strategy, business objectives and risk appetite;

  • Partner with the commercial organization to understand the requirements, needs and objectives of the business, while demonstrating successful delivery alignment through product roadmap and delivery pipeline;

  • Operate within the product management and commercialization process from ideation through to operation for products, designed to identify opportunities for Altus Group to commercialize advances in data science, artificial intelligence, advanced analytics and technology in commercial real estate;

  • Execute frequent review (minimum quarterly for review and annually for definition) of the product group strategy to drive roadmap prioritization, reviewing business objectives and requirements, technology innovation and strategy and performance of existing offers;

  • Define quantitative/ qualitative customer value of the commercial releases and ensure assigned products deliver on this promise of value for clients by constructing the appropriate product metrics

Product Roadmap

  • Produce and maintain a two-year product roadmap for the assigned product group that aligns product management, product architecture, user experience and product development with the line of business, our business strategy and risk appetite;

  • Ensure effective execution of the product roadmap through adherence to Altus product management methodology; Ensure adherence to agile processes, managing priorities and maintaining an accurate backlog of requirements;

  • Maintain both velocity and quality of roadmap execution by documenting clear product requirements, align product and solution architectures and prioritization of requirements to drive effective delivery plans; Assure development and delivery of product releases meets requirements both functional and non-functional;

  • Provide frequent opportunity for collecting input and feedback on product performance from clients, users and across the business to drive priorities, delivery plans, timing and resource;

  • Ensure an effective balance between innovation, enhancement and maintenance within the roadmap to meet business objectives on net retention, user and asset growth while operating within risk appetite

Product management method:

  • Adhere to processes for operating collaboratively across product management, product architecture and product development;

  • Ensure high quality practices by establishing and maintaining product management standards in requirements definition, product design, user experience and quality acceptance criteria;

Innovation and research:

  • Drive market and product requirements discovery, including market research and competitor analysis;

  • Collaborate and define requirements for technology, innovation and analytics research to align business requirements to technology and innovation roadmaps; Provide frequent opportunity for collecting input and feedback on analysis and output from across the business to influence technology and innovation roadmap, scope, output, format and timing;

  • Build ongoing relationships with clients and industry partners to leverage and demonstrate ability to validate the product strategy

  • Assist in building product roadmap presentations for customers, training materials and other activities for sales/ design/ development teams

  • Work closely with all functions on product definitions, messaging, positioning, pricing, and segmentation.

  • Manage relationships and keeping clear lines of communications with stakeholders (sales, marketing, services, Sr. leaders) to ensure that all parties are aligned to strategy and business plan for assigned products;

Team Leadership

  • Work within the defined operating model and RACI with line of business, expert services, marketing, offer management, Altus Labs, product development and IT; maintain a clear team structure, competency mix and capacity to meet product group strategy and development plans;

  • Operate to product management budget and support the annual process and adjustments on quarterly and monthly basis;

  • Manage all aspects of recruitment and performance management, including ensuring all team members have clear job descriptions outlining responsibilities, goals aligned to performance metrics, personal development goals and plans, helping to identify learning and career development opportunities for direct reports, coach, and mentor staff and develop a high performing team;

  • Communicate business direction to the team and ensure alignment of individual goals to business direction;

  • Communicate and ensure compliance with business, offer and product strategies, product roadmap and client delivery plans with service delivery, as well as operational, technology and risk policies

Key Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in technology or engineering discipline

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant product management experience

  • Background in commercial real estate software and solutions

  • Experience with data and analytics product management (preferred)

  • Skilled in defining and presenting innovation to public forums

  • Expert in using customer insights and data to inform decision-making

  • Expert in user research, data analysis, and agile product management methodology

  • Expert in process management and continuous improvement for data and analytics products

  • Advanced knowledge of pricing best practices and analysis

  • Capable in product management and product strategy development

  • Capable in acquiring, developing, and retaining product management talent

  • Capable in understanding subscription economics and SaaS business models
