Job Summary:
As a Proposal Writer, you will assist with the business development and growth of Altus Group’s Development Advisory Group in Toronto and throughout Canada. Specifically, the role will focus on proposals, including: research, analysis, development, tracking, and writing proposals for prospective and existing clients.
We are looking for someone who can research and understand our services and client requirements and then translate that understanding into concise, clear, and compelling content. The successful candidate will lead, organize and provide substantial support to senior practitioners through the full proposal / presentation preparation cycle for engagement opportunities. Furthermore, the individual will lead the proposal preparation process by guiding and expediting submission elements by team members responsible for the development of proposal content.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the proposal preparation process, guiding and expediting submission elements from team members responsible for content development.
Analyze RFP requirements to determine necessary information, coordinating response efforts with management, technical, proposal, and marketing staff to meet submission requirements and deadlines.
Write and coordinate proposals with multiple time-sensitive deadlines in response to management leads.
Develop and prepare proposals using input from all sources in a concise, responsive, and logical manner, ensuring compliance with specifications.
Draft, edit, and finalize proposals for client submission, managing production and delivery throughout the entire process.
Ensure proposals are delivered by prescribed methods (online, hand-delivered, etc.) by deadlines.
Search relevant bid sites for potential opportunities as lead consultants and sub-consultants.
Enter leads in Salesforce and update as they progress to proposals and jobs.
Maintain a proposal content database, sourcing and uploading case studies, standard templates, and other related materials.
Assist in Marketing & Business Development initiatives as required.
Work with the proposal team at large to deliver on national ongoing projects and tasks related to proposals, business development, and content management
Support senior proposal staff as required
Key Requirements:
Post-secondary education in Marketing, Business, English, Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline.
3+ years of proposal writing experience, including direct experience with EOIs, RFPs, and RFQs, as well as other tender documents.
Understanding of the professional services, construction, or real estate industry is preferred.
Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
Strong writing skills to create comprehensive correspondence, proposal responses, and client presentations.
Ability to interact and build relationships with management and staff at all levels of the organization.
Superior organization and time management abilities.
Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and manage people and information to create best-in-class documents under pressure, with the ability to quickly adapt to changing tasks.
Ability to provide editing input.
Flexibility and resilience to accept constructive criticism and editorial commentary.
Superior MS Office skills, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Publisher, Visio, Salesforce, and SharePoint is considered an asset.
Ability to create aesthetically pleasing proposals and information materials, format, insert photos/graphics, manipulate layout, etc., in line with Altus Group branding guidelines (knowledge of Photoshop or similar software is desirable).
