Altus Group is looking for a Tax Manager in our Real Property Tax division to join our Houston Office (Hybrid work available). This role will be reporting to the Director. In this role, you will be a project manager, with a focus on client service and retention. Overseeing the execution of project scope as performed by consultants and determined by supervisors. You will be working with leadership to determine the scope of projects, and then closely monitoring the status of those projects through to completion. This includes communication of project status (both internally and externally) as well as assigning tasks to others through department staffing procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyzing data to determine scope and action plan for projects.

• Protect, renew and expand existing clients. Responsive to all clients requests.

• Presenting cases and communicating technical matters to authorities in order to negotiate settlements or advance appeals under supervision of leadership.

• Supervising employees to ensure work performed in accordance with project scope and budget (staffing, process efficiency, assisting with issues).

• Providing technical instruction and training to colleagues (including reviewing work and giving feedback on work product).

• Executing highly technical research, analysis, and project support that requires extensive service line knowledge.

• Billing and monitoring project profitability.

• Building relationships with prospects and existing clients in order to identify new client opportunities and expand client engagements.

• Knowledge sharing, networking, conference attendance, and professional education.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Economics, Accounting, Real Estate or other business-related field preferred, but not required)

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in similar role

• Licensed as a Tax Consultant in Texas.

• Previous real property tax consulting experience in Texas.

• Experience appearing before boards.

• Multi-State experience would be beneficial.

• OneSource and/or Siger Tax software experience is a plus.

• Resourceful with strong analytical skills.

• Excellent project management abilities with experience supervising others and extensive service line knowledge in a consultant/senior analyst capacity.

• Strong writing, and communication skills

• Intermediate Microsoft office skills.
