How You Will Contribute
We are looking for a Process Development Engineer to join our growing company. As an expert in the field, you will be working on optimizing our production process for scale up. You will have the opportunity to make an immediate and sustainable impact in the development of the company by initiating and implementing process development projects, while having the opportunity to grow with a fast-moving startup. This role will be located in our San Angelo, TX location.

What You Will Be Working On:

  • Lead set up of DOE, Run Experiments, Collect and Analyze Data from our Demo Plant.
  • Maintain close working relationship with vendors and the demo plant team to scale up and optimize processes.
  • Develop and communicate process designs using process flow diagrams, P&IDs, process narratives and heat and mass balances.
  • Responsible for Scale Up from Lab Process to Demo Plant and Scale Down from Manufacturing to Pilot.
  • Develop, design, install and optimize full scale manufacturing systems to maximize yields, reduce costs, improve equipment reliability within the production process.
  • Experience scaling products between bench, pilot, demo and manufacturing scale.
  • Process engineering and design including creating H&M balances, process flow diagrams, scaling up process to commercial scales.
  • Capital project engineering including leading projects from concept through operations, equipment specification, installation, and commissioning.
  • Experience in Sanitary 3-A, USDA, and FDA food processing as well as HACCP, OSHA, and other norms for food production.
  • Commissioning experience is a plus!

What You Will Bring to Plantible:

  • A Bachelors or Masters in Chemical, Mechanical, or Biological Sciences Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience designing and building food processing systems, operations or facilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of optimizing processes in preparation for scale up.
  • Acute curiosity about process performance and plant operations optimization.
  • Desire to collaborate with your colleagues in the other departments but also able to work independently.
  • Able to adapt to changing timelines and priorities.
  • Continuous learner, excited to understand the complete production process from cultivation to packaging.
