The Cloud Engineering team at Seismic is responsible for infrastructure deployed through infrastructure-as-code and GitOps practices across all major clouds. As part of the Cloud Engineering team, the Security Engineering team upholds and constantly improves the security best practices for SDLC and cloud infrastructure, and fully embraces the DevSecOps methodologies and philosophy. The Security Engineering team works remotely across the globe by leveraging collaboration tools and agile methodologies. We balance day-to-day support for our application development teams with our planned objectives. Objectives align to a clear vision across themes of Global Scalability, Operational Cost Efficiency, & Infrastructure and Workload Reliability.

What you'll be Doing:

  • Research, design, implement and support technologies and processes to automate security operations that seamlessly integrate into software development, CICD, and cloud infrastructure
  • Research, design, implement and support monitoring, auditing, and reporting solutions that support security and compliance needs
  • Lead projects as we execute Security Engineering roadmap and other objectives shared across Cloud Engineering teams
  • Lead and coordinate the technical investigation and remediation efforts in case of security incidents
  • Work closely with developers during the deployment and testing phases to provide insights into security best practices
  • Advocate and implement industry best practices for configuration management and build/deployment automation
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to triage and analyze abnormalities in security operation

Who You Are:

  • 5+ years of working experience in a cloud environment with global deployment in a role of devops engineer, infrastructure engineer, or software development engineer with infrastructure exposure.
  • High level of competency with at least one cloud platform, ideally multiple, such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or IBM Cloud.
  • Production level use of Terraform, Shell/Bash, and Python (or Go, Java, Ruby–another non-Shell programming language).
  • Have a strong knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes, networking, and infrastructure fundamentals in a multi-region microservice architecture environment.
  • Passionate in automation, which you understand not only saves time, but allows developers to spend more time doing what they do best - code!
  • Well versed in best practices in the DevSecOps and Cloud Engineering fields
  • A strong analytical thinker and problem-solver, comfortable providing and discussing a recommendation after evaluating multiple solutions.
  • A self-starter and quick learner with a proactive mindset. You possess a strong sense of ownership and take pride in the work that you do
  • You have good communication skills, and are comfortable asking questions, respectfully voicing your opinion, or leading discussions in group settings
  • You thrive in ambiguous situations, and know when to take charge and move forward
