Forward Deployed Software Engineer
About P-1 AI:
We are building an engineering AGI. We founded P-1 AI with the conviction that the greatest impact of artificial intelligence will be on the built world—helping mankind conquer nature and bend it to our will. Our first product is Archie, an AI engineer capable of quantitative and spatial reasoning over physical product domains that performs at the level of an entry-level design engineer. We aim to put an Archie on every engineering team at every industrial company on earth.
Our founding team includes the top minds in model-based engineering, deep learning, and industries that are our customers. We just closed a $23 million seed round led by Radical Ventures that includes a number of other AI and industrial luminaries. We invite you to join our team of the world’s best engineers and AI researchers, building AI’s most impactful use case.
About the Role:
As the Forward Deployed Software Engineer on our Customer Engineering Team, you'll bring Archie into the live engineering environments of major industrial OEMs. You'll own the technical journey from pre-sales technical scoping through post-deployment expansion, building the custom integrations that connect Archie to real engineering workflows. Your work sets the standard for how Archie specializes to each customer, with your code and configurations reused across deployments. This is a high-impact, high-visibility opportunity with potential to scale into a technical leadership role.
Responsibilities
Work with customers end-to-end: Jump on discovery calls, whiteboard integration architectures, and translate Archie's capabilities into concrete value propositions for technical stakeholders.
Own integration implementations from zero to production: Design, build, and iterate on customer-specific pathways; write custom integrations to engineering tools and data sources; test relentlessly until Archie delivers exceptional results
Deploy Archie into customer environments: configure secure, robust solutions across diverse customer systems (VPNs, VPCs, Windows/Linux, containerized platforms).
Collaborate closely with engineering teams: partner with modeling and AI specialists to continuously refine Archie's integration and enhance product capabilities based on customer feedback.
Resolve critical infrastructure issues: coordinate troubleshooting, drive root-cause analysis, and implement lasting resolutions alongside customer IT teams.
Qualifications:
Required:
You've built enterprise-grade tooling in Python or C# within large-scale Windows/Linux environments.
Comfortable reading and writing REST/JSON APIs and able to quickly script integrations to connect disparate systems
You've managed deployments within secure enterprise IT infrastructures involving containers, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and authentication/security protocols.
You're skilled at rapid troubleshooting in live production scenarios and experienced in collaborating with customers during incident response.
You're comfortable and effective interacting directly with customer engineers and IT leaders to align on technical objectives.
Desirable:
You have familiarity integrating systems within CAD/CAE ecosystems (e.g., Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill) and enterprise resource planning systems like SAP.
You have experience operating Kubernetes-based infrastructure, with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
You have exposure to compliance and regulatory frameworks typical in safety-critical hardware sectors.
Interview Process:
Initial screening: Head of Talent (30 min)
Technical manager interview: Head of Customer Engineering (45 min)
System design session: build production infra using your own setup (60 min)
Culture fit & mission: with co-founder & CEO (30 min)
Location:
Remote—US & Canada (must be work-authorized).
Travel to SF ~1 week every six weeks; optional San Francisco office residency welcomed.
