Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring an Associate Director, Community Relations to join our Marketing team.

About the role:
The Associate Director of Community Relations plays a pivotal role in elevating Oscar Health's presence, reputation, and relationships across the country—especially within our top markets. This leader will help build a deeper, more trusted connection between Oscar and the communities we serve, embedding our brand in local ecosystems and activating champions who can drive awareness, trust, and long-term impact. This role will lead grassroots engagement efforts, build national and local partnerships, and partner closely with business and market leaders to translate community activation into meaningful business momentum.
You will report into the VP, Communications and Brand.
Work Location: This position is based in our New York City office, requiring a hybrid work schedule with 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are a required in-office day for team meetings and events, while your other two office days are flexible to suit your schedule. #LI-Hybrid
Pay Transparency: The base pay for this role is: $158,400 - $207,900 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, and annual performance bonuses.
Responsibilities:
- Community Engagement & Relationship Building Build and nurture relationships with influential national organizations and their local chapters to strengthen Oscar's reputation and presence.
- Partner with local leaders, providers, community organizations, and stakeholders to embed Oscar teams meaningfully within our communities.
- Serve as a key connector across markets, identifying opportunities to elevate Oscar's profile and amplify our mission through grassroots efforts.
- Brand Activations & Market GroundswellLead community engagement strategies and brand activations that create positive groundswell in our priority markets.
- Plan and execute scalable, high-impact local events in partnership with national organizations and local chapters.
- Develop and pilot new community-based initiatives that build trust, deepen relationships, and humanize Oscar in each market.
- Cross-Functional Partnership & Market AlignmentPartner with the Oscar Business Communications and Insurance Growth Marketing teams to translate community momentum into go-to-market strategies that support member acquisition, retention, and partnership growth.
- Collaborate with Market Leaders, Sales Growth partners, and business stakeholders to ensure community engagement aligns with shared goals across health insurance and local initiatives.
- Work closely with Business Communications to support coaching for market teams and spokespeople in community-facing roles, generating buzz and air cover around market activations.
- Playbooks, Enablement & Internal Alignment Equip market teams with strategies, toolkits, and playbooks that guide consistent, high-impact community engagement.
- Build repeatable frameworks for event execution, partnerships, and local activation to ensure a unified, scalable presence across all markets.
- Provide training, insights, and support to ensure market teams can confidently represent Oscar and build trusted local relationships.
- Market Presence & Brand Reputation Support efforts to strengthen Oscar's brand perception and reputation by showing up authentically and meaningfully in key communities.
- Identify community trends, opportunities, and risks that inform broader brand and market strategy.
- Serve as a champion for community insights—bringing what you learn from the field back into the business to improve how we serve members and partners.
- Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations

Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in community relations, field marketing, grassroots engagement, partnerships, or related roles—preferably in healthcare, health plans, government programs, or mission-driven consumer organizations.
- Proven success building relationships with community organizations, associations, civic leaders, and local influencers.
- Experience in event strategy, grassroots activations, or market engagement programs.
- Strong communication, storytelling, and coaching skills, especially with spokesperson or community-facing teams.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, cross-functional environments with multiple stakeholders and business lines.
- Comfort working across diverse communities with cultural awareness, empathy, and credibility

Pay Transparency: Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
