Position Overview

We're seeking an experienced Equipment Policy SME to provide critical policy guidance, functional, and administrative support to Air Force logistics readiness initiatives. The selected individual will play a key role in assisting with policy development, supply chain management, and support equipment lifecycle accountability, ensuring compliance with FIAR (Financial Integrity and Audit Readiness) standards. This position operates in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment, providing support at the Air Force staff level. This role will ensure seamless collaboration between Air Force entities and external stakeholders and requires expertise in supply chain management and equipment policy support. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly to evolving mission needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert direction, policy guidance, and technical support for Air Force logistics and equipment management operations.
  • Support the development and revision of policies related to supply chain management, ensuring alignment with DoD regulations including DODI 5000.64, DODM 4140.01, and other relevant standards.
  • Collaborate with Air Force staff, including action officers, to develop electronic Staff Summary Sheets (eSSS), senior leader briefings, and policy documentation.
  • Participate in working groups, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and cross-functional teams, providing subject matter expertise on support equipment and supply chain management.
  • Perform gap analysis of logistics systems and SCM-IT interfaces (e.g., DPAS, ILS-S, BLADE), identifying opportunities for improvements and ensuring accurate reflection of equipment data in records.
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of FIAR-related initiatives, ensuring Air Force compliance with financial management regulations.
  • Develop and deliver training plans to various Air Force personnel on equipment and supply chain management best practices.
  • Lead and execute strategic-level plans for FIAR readiness, ensuring full audit compliance and alignment with DoD standards.
  • Provide expert oversight on supply chain lifecycle management, ensuring effective planning, execution, and compliance with all Air Force equipment management policies.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure continuous process improvement in logistics and supply chain management, facilitating effective collaboration across all levels of Air Force staff.
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of equipment management processes and policy execution, ensuring alignment with Air Force objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams involving logistics, IT, and policy experts to drive seamless execution of equipment management strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Active SECRET Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in logistics management, supply chain management, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 10 years of progressive experience in Air Force logistics, equipment policy, or supply chain management, with significant staff-level experience.
  • Expertise in Air Force Materiel Management Systems (ILS-S, DPAS, BLADE), for advanced logistics reporting and analysis across multiple MAJCOMs.
  • Hands-on experience providing policy support, drafting and revising supply chain management policies and procedures, and interfacing with high-level military and civilian stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle high-demand and high-visibility tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including military personnel, contractors, and government agencies.
  • Experience working with external stakeholders such as contractors, civilian personnel, and other military branches to ensure cohesive equipment management operations.
  • Proven experience designing custom reports and dashboards for advanced logistics data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Air Force Staff or Joint Staff at a policy-making level.
  • Familiarity with BLADE, and other logistics reporting and analysis tools.
  • Certifications in Logistics Management or related disciplines (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma).
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams within Air Force logistics, ensuring continuous improvement in policy and operational execution.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement lifecycle management strategies, particularly in supply chain and equipment management initiatives.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement lifecycle management strategies for large-scale military logistics operations.
