Position Overview

The Construction Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of outside plant (OSP) fiber construction operations within an assigned geographic market. This role oversees construction crews and contractors, tracks production and costs on a project-by-project basis, coordinates with engineering and permitting teams, and ensures quality standards and completion timelines are met across residential, commercial, MDU, and expansion-related fiber builds.

This is a local, field-present management role with a company-provided home-garaged vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily construction activities including residential FTTH, commercial/SMB, MDU inside wiring, joint trench, and other OSP projects.
  • Maintain and update project trackers with milestones, costs, and production results.
  • Assign work to crews and contractors to meet required completion dates.
  • Ensure quality of construction, budget adherence, and on-time project delivery.
  • Provide regular status reporting to leadership and cross-functional departments.
  • Train and oversee junior construction managers and field staff.
  • Coordinate with engineering, permitting, and internal teams to refine construction processes and standards.
  • Monitor contractor and crew performance; recommend corrective action as needed.
  • Review field reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage project estimates, budgets, and schedules.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • 5+ years of experience in telecom/fiber OSP construction management.
  • Strong knowledge of FTTH construction methods (aerial, buried, underground).
  • Experience in project budgeting, scheduling, and cost reporting.
  • Proven ability to manage construction crews and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Earth/KMZ/KML files.
  • Familiarity with GIS, CADD, or mapping/drafting tools (preferred).
  • BS/BA in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (equivalent field experience accepted).
