The Aerial Lineman - Telecom plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of telecommunication services. This position involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead fiber optic cables, including FTTH networks. The Lineman works as part of a crew to troubleshoot issues, restore service, and support the expansion of telecommunications infrastructure while maintaining strict safety standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The Aerial Lineman - Telecom plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of telecommunication services. This position involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead fiber optic cables, including FTTH networks. The Lineman works as part of a crew to troubleshoot issues, restore service, and support the expansion of telecommunications infrastructure while maintaining strict safety standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair aerial telecommunication lines and equipment (fiber optic cables, strand and lash, self-support fiber).
- Perform aerial field work, including working at heights and climbing poles.
- Conduct inspections to identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
- Assist in troubleshooting and restoring service outages efficiently.
- Operate hand tools, telecom equipment, and aerial bucket trucks.
- Support crew members and perform ground hand duties when needed.
- Always follow all safety procedures and industry regulations.
- Document work performed, including installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Strong technical skills in telecom installation and repair.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Teamwork and communication skills.
- High attention to safety and compliance.
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity for demanding field work.
- Ability to climb poles and work at heights.
- Basic knowledge of telecom or willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.

- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions.
- Able to learn quickly and collaborate effectively with experienced linemen.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- 1-2+ years of experience in telecom or fiber optic installation.
- Experience with aerial equipment (bucket trucks, lashers, lifts, plows).
- Lineman apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
