About the role

We’re hiring a QA Engineer (AI-first) to own product quality end-to-end and take it to the next level by using AI to scale test coverage, improve reliability, and reduce regressions.

This is not “manual QA.” You’ll define the quality bar, build the strategy, and implement a modern testing system where AI helps generate test cases, expand edge coverage, validate outcomes, and accelerate debugging.

This is an in-office role in Austin, TX — 5 days/week.

What you’ll do

• Own quality across the product: define standards, processes, and success metrics.

• Build and maintain end-to-end automated tests for real customer workflows across SMS/email/voice.

• Design release confidence: smoke tests, regression suites, staging validation, rollout gates.

• Use AI to:

Generate and expand test cases from specs, bugs, and production incidents

Create high-quality synthetic test data + edge-case scenarios

Auto-triage failures and assist with root-cause analysis

Continuously improve coverage without slowing product velocity

• Build quality tooling into CI/CD (gating, flaky test detection, reporting).

• Drive bug triage discipline: severity, reproduction quality, accountability loops.

• Partner with engineering/product on observability and reliability (failure categories, trends, top regressions).

What we’re looking for

4+ years in QA / Quality Engineering for production SaaS.

Strong experience with end-to-end automation (Playwright/Cypress/Selenium) + API testing.

You think in systems: you build repeatable quality processes, not brittle scripts.

You can independently reproduce issues and communicate clearly with engineers.

You’re comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment.

• You have strong interest or experience using AI in engineering workflows (LLMs, evals, test generation, prompt/tooling, synthetic data).

Bonus points

• Experience testing messaging/telephony systems (SMS/email/voice), webhooks, retries, idempotency.
• Python + TypeScript familiarity.
• Distributed systems, queues, background workers.
• Temporal or workflow orchestration experience.
• Observability tooling: Grafana/Prometheus/logging/tracing.
