The Role

We are seeking an Accounting Manager, reporting to the Controller / VP of Accounting, to oversee accounting operations for our Design Services and Made-to-Order furniture brands. This role will lead a team of two Senior Accountants and a Refund Specialist, and will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting across multiple entities.

This is a highly visible leadership role that combines technical accounting expertise, operational partnership, and team development. The Accounting Manager will play a critical role in driving process improvements, strengthening internal controls, and supporting continued growth across our brands.

What You’ll Do

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of two Senior Accountants and a Refund Specialist
  • Oversee workload allocation, performance management, and professional development
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Own and oversee the month-end close process for Design Services and MTO brands, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Ensure integrity of the general ledger and compliance with GAAP
  • Oversee preparation and review of monthly financial statements, including budget-to-actual reporting and variance analysis
  • Partner with FP&A and leadership to provide insights into gross profit, revenue trends, and key business drivers

Revenue & Inventory Accounting

  • Ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606, including contract evaluation and performance obligations
  • Oversee accounting for made-to-order inventory, including costing, reserves, WIP considerations, and third-party logistics coordination
  • Review monthly inventory reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in partnership with operations and supply chain teams

Operational & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner closely with Design Services, Operations, Supply Chain, and Customer Experience teams to ensure accounting implications are understood and processes are aligned
  • Oversee refund processes and controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strong customer outcomes
  • Drive process improvements to increase automation, efficiency, and scalability

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee timely remittance of sales and use tax, federal and state filings, and franchise taxes
  • Support audit planning and execution, serving as a key liaison with external auditors
  • Strengthen and document internal controls across revenue, inventory, and refund processes

Strategic & Ad Hoc Support

  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Lead or support system implementations and accounting policy enhancements
  • Drive special projects and initiatives as the business evolves

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA strongly preferred)
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in product-based or inventory-driven environments
  • Prior management experience required, with demonstrated ability to develop and lead high-performing teams
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and inventory accounting
  • Experience in multi-entity environments preferred
  • Proficient in NetSuite (or similar ERP) and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong understanding of sales tax compliance and regulatory requirements

Additional Details

This is a full-time exempt position headquartered in Denver, CO. The expectation for this role is that the individual will be onsite 5 days per week.

Targeted compensation range for this role is $110K–$130K/year, dependent upon experience.
