NerdWallet is excited to introduce NerdWallet Insurance Experts—a brand-new segment of NerdWallet designed to help consumers make the smartest choices with their money by simplifying insurance shopping. As NerdWallet’s Property & Casualty insurance agency, we focus exclusively on personal lines products. As a Licensed Insurance Agent, you’ll play a key role in this launch by guiding customers through quoting, comparing, and binding Home, Auto, Umbrella, and Flood insurance from our network of trusted carrier partners. Unlike traditional sales roles, you’ll engage daily with a steady flow of high-intent inbound leads generated by NerdWallet, empowering you to focus on building relationships and delivering value. This is your opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a growing team and make an impact early.

Summary:

The Insurance Operations Specialist is the backbone of our agency’s day-to-day success—keeping operations running smoothly while supporting growth across teams. You’ll manage early-stage customer service needs, assist with policy servicing, field inbound calls, and optimize workflows to boost efficiency.

This role bridges sales, service, and operations—ensuring compliance, accuracy, and an exceptional customer experience every step of the way. As our agency continues to scale, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and refining processes that strengthen our operational foundation and enable long-term success.

You’ll support post-sale relationships, process policy changes, maintain carrier operations, and ensure our systems and data stay sharp. By keeping information organized, supporting agents with licensing and systems access, and proactively resolving customer needs, you’ll be key to sustaining our efficiency, compliance, and client retention.

This role reports to the General Manager, Katie Rickert.

Where you can make an impact:

  • Process & Workflow Management: Drive operational excellence by ensuring accurate policy processing, renewals, and claims handling—all while enhancing efficiency and client satisfaction.

  • Data & Reporting: Keep our numbers (and our strategy) sharp. Maintain detailed client records, build reports, and track performance metrics to uncover insights and opportunities for improvement.

  • Compliance & Quality Control: Champion compliance by upholding regulatory and internal standards, minimizing risk, and ensuring every policy and process meets quality expectations.

  • Systems & Technology Support: Be our go-to for system fluency—managing agency tools, troubleshooting issues, and helping the team leverage technology to stay efficient and connected.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with agents, underwriters, and service teams to streamline communication, resolve issues quickly, and keep operations running like clockwork.

Your experience:

  • 2–4 years of experience in insurance operations, account management, or administrative support (agency experience preferred).

  • Solid understanding of insurance policies, renewals, endorsements, and carrier processes.

  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills—you know how to build trust and maintain relationships.

  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational and time management abilities.

  • Skilled with agency management systems and tools like HubSpot, DialPad, and Microsoft Excel.

  • Comfortable analyzing reports, tracking commissions, and spotting trends or potential issues.

  • A natural problem-solver who uses sound judgment when navigating compliance or service challenges.

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively and juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Current Property & Casualty (P&C) license in state of residence + willingness to obtain additional licenses

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with carrier onboarding, licensing coordination, or compliance management.

  • Familiarity with agency tech stacks and automation tools (Zapier, Asana, Google Workspace).

  • Background in working with multiple insurance carriers or managing a large volume of policies.

  • Understanding of data reporting, KPI tracking, or process improvement methodologies.

  • Active Property & Casualty (P&C) license.
