At NerdWallet, our mission is to bring clarity to life’s financial decisions because everyone deserves a trusted co-pilot on their financial journey. Every great mission needs an exceptional team, and we’re building ours with care. We’ve created an inclusive, flexible, and transparent culture where you are empowered to grow, take smart risks, and bring your authentic self to work. Whether you work remotely or in one of our offices, we support the environment where you thrive best. We invest in your well-being, professional development, and ability to make an impact, because when one Nerd grows, we all grow.

The Financial Systems Program Manager will lead the strategy, planning, and execution of NerdWallet’s financial systems roadmap, focusing on systems integration, scalability, and cross-functional alignment. This role serves as a key partner to Finance, IT, and other stakeholders, translating business needs into actionable solutions while maintaining flexibility across multiple systems.

You will champion a holistic portfolio approach to financial systems, moving beyond a single-platform perspective to create a cohesive and integrated technology environment. You will oversee the delivery of programs and integrations, ensuring priorities are met on time and with measurable results. Through coaching and coordination, you will foster strong task ownership, productivity, and alignment with program goals. Acting as the primary liaison between business teams such as Accounting, FP&A, and Procurement, and technical experts such as OIC specialists, you will translate requirements into effective system outcomes. By collaborating closely with leadership, you will ensure the roadmap balances near-term execution with long-term architectural flexibility. You will also own project communications and reporting to keep teams aligned and leadership informed of progress, milestones, and potential risks.

This role reports to the Director of IT Audit.

Where you can make an impact:

  • Develop and lead the financial systems roadmap across Oracle and non-Oracle platforms, ensuring alignment with business priorities and the Finance Team’s operational objectives.

  • Provide leadership and stakeholders with regular updates on annual and quarterly project and roadmap progress, including reporting on goals, timelines, risks, and outcomes, supported by clear documentation, status reports, and performance metrics.

  • Coordinate and manage the full project lifecycle for financial systems initiatives — including discovery, scoping, documentation, UAT planning, stakeholder communications, and cutover.

  • Ensure scalable, integrated solutions are implemented to support growing business needs across functions like Accounting, FP&A, Procurement, and Compliance.

  • Champion continuous improvement of financial systems processes, integrations, and user experience by identifying pain points and driving iterative enhancements.

  • Manage vendor relationships as needed for third-party tools, integrations, or consulting support, ensuring SLAs and outcomes align with NerdWallet’s goals.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, data governance standards, and security practices when designing and deploying system enhancements.

  • Identify redundancies and areas of friction in current systems, driving simplification and standardization to reduce complexity and increase agility. Apply data analysis to identify high-volume touch points, streamline service workflows, and optimize processes.

Your experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in program or project management for financial systems.

  • Required background includes work with:

    • Enterprise Financial Systems (ERP) such as Oracle Cloud

    • Financial operations or accounting functions

    • Systems integration projects, ideally involving both Oracle and non-Oracle platforms

    • Prior experience with system implementations

  • Program Management Expertise – Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives from strategy to delivery, aligning work with organizational goals. Skilled at prioritizing, identifying dependencies, mitigating risks, and delivering outcomes that create measurable business impact.

  • Financial Systems Fluency – Experience working with a range of financial applications (e.g., procurement, general ledger, FP&A tools) and connecting system capabilities to finance and accounting needs.

  • Collaborative Communication – Able to build strong relationships across technical and non-technical teams. Confident in gathering requirements, presenting trade-offs, and facilitating decisions while valuing all perspectives.

  • Leadership Without Boundaries – Experience guiding, coordinating, and empowering cross-functional or vendor teams toward shared goals, regardless of formal reporting lines.

  • Adaptable Problem Solver – Thrives in evolving environments with shifting priorities. Brings a growth mindset and a track record of resolving complex challenges with scalable, practical solutions.

  • Ownership Mindset – Takes responsibility for end-to-end delivery, fosters team accountability, and ensures commitments are met.
