ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Merchant to join our Textile and Decor team. The ideal candidate is consumer focused with a keen eye for design, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of market trends. This role is pivotal in ensuring our category assortment strategy delivers value and distinct design to our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the assortment strategy for Textiles & Decor in partnership with the Director of Merchandising.
  • Lead business strategies, marketing plans, and merchandise assortments to drive profitable sales in Textiles & Decor.
  • Partner with Directors of Merchandising & Planning to create and present strategies to maximize sales and inventory for the OTB process.
  • Utilize product, site data and analytics to drive site merchandising and assortment decisions. Own site merchandising for product pages and collection pages.
  • Develop the seasonal assortment plans to define product requirements for Design. Partner with the Trade team to ensure their product needs are part of seasonal assortments.
  • Coordinate product launches and ensure timely delivery and quality control.
  • Perform market analysis, competitive shop and analyze sales trends to keep abreast of current trends. Be an “expert” on consumer mindsets, motivations, behaviors, and preferences. Identify product gaps, emerging trends and develop business strategies outlining new business opportunities, product creation cadence and lifecycle.
  • Communicate annual and seasonal strategies cross functionally to key stakeholders (Planning, Design, Marketing, Sourcing and Product Development).
  • Develop annual and seasonal financial plans in partnership with Planning team to provide Sourcing and Product Development with purchase quantities, delivery dates, flow and exit strategies for initial cost and production negotiations for new programs
  • Provide Planning/ Inventory Management with final assortment plans, product details, target retails, estimated IMU, importance to overall assortment (big ideas), launch plans and buy plans
  • Collaborate with Planning/ Inventory Management and recommend adjustments (markdowns, delivery changes and quantity changes) to the plan to maximize sales, profits, budget (OTB) and to protect the brand.
  • Provide guidance to Merchandise coordinators for each product category. Coach, mentor and provide feedback to set them up for success.
  • Partner with customer service to resolve any issues related to product quality, delivery, and vendor performance.
  • Provide product knowledge to Trade and Customer Service teams.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in buying or merchandising, preferably in the Textiles space.
  • 5-10 years of retail buying, planning, or related experience.
  • Prior experience in SKU-intensive retail assistant buying/analyst role.
  • Proven track record of successful product selection and inventory management.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient analytical, financial, strategic, and planning skills. Basic retail math and analytical skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented approach.

COMPENSATION

This is an exempt position.

The target pay range for this role is between $85,000 - $100,000

This role is eligible to participate in our annual bonus program.
