About the Role / Summary:

The Associate Manager, Sourcing & Product Development is responsible for managing suppliers and manufacturers to ensure timely and cost effective development and delivery of products that fuel the company’s growth. This role will lead all day-to-day sourcing and product development initiatives for their assigned product categories, including collaboration with internal cross functional stakeholders, buying agents, suppliers, and manufacturers.

This is a hybrid position with the expectation of working Tuesday - Thursday in our Portland office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day Sourcing & Product Development initiatives, Concept to ex-factory, for Schoolhouse Furniture & Upholstery categories
  • Manages all daily communication regarding Product Development and Sourcing
  • Partners with Merchandising and Inventory Planning to understand assortment needs and requirements; costs, MOQ, and delivery targets. Supports category development through daily collaboration and communication with key stakeholders
  • Partners with Design to understand our product design requirements, core aesthetic, and seasonal concepts. Leads the development of new materials, techniques, and finishes
  • Ensures that all products meet our cost, quality, quantity and brand calendar timing requirements
  • Manages vendor negotiations related to product profitability; margin, inventory, and delivery requirements
  • Collaborates with suppliers and manufacturers to understand the technicality of products to drive design modifications needed to achieve cost and quality targets
  • Fosters and manages supplier and manufacturer relationships to support brand growth opportunities through product innovation, new capability development, industry trends, and potential offline buys
  • Utilizes product management software to manage all development activities
  • Creates and maintains efficient workflows to ensure all timelines and deliverables are met
  • Manages and evaluates product development samples -
    • Ensures development samples match our design specifications and quality standards
    • Ensures TOP samples are representative of final product specifications
  • Partners with Sourcing & Product Development leadership to collaborate on sourcing and global landscape strategies
  • Publishes and shares Sourcing & PD reporting and updates related to development and brand calendar milestones

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or commensurate experience
  • 2-4 years Sourcing & Product Development experience. Relevant experience in the housewares industry preferred
  • Highly organized with strong calendar and project management skills
  • Excellent eye (and taste!) for great products and understands our aesthetic
  • Very comfortable receiving feedback and working in an open, collaborative manner with all members of the organization
  • Understands the value of internal and external partnerships and knows how to foster relationships to build trust
  • Comfortable with the possibility of domestic and international travel

COMPENSATION:

This is a salaried, exempt role with a hiring range of $70,000 - $75,000. This position is eligible for a bonus.
