We're hiring a Director of Business Operations , reporting to the COO. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role at the center of how we plan, prioritize, and deliver on our most critical initiatives. If you're a former consultant or strategic operator who's ready to own outcomes from the passenger seat with the COO—this is your moment.
You'll partner with the executive team to shape annual priorities, translate strategy into actionable work, and ensure the entire organization is aligned and executing against what matters most. You will own the operating rhythm, discipline, and clarity that make those results possible.
As the founding member of this team, you will have a team 2-3 Business Operations Managers reporting directly to you. You will sit on COO staff, alongside our SVPs of Engineering, Product, Member Care, and CIO leader.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Build and lead our company-wide OKR and annual planning processes—ensuring teams are aligned, scoped, and resourced to deliver on key priorities.
- Translate enterprise strategy into clear priorities, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
- Partner closely with functional leaders to keep outcomes on track and adapt to real-world complexity.
- Drive Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the embedded strategic partner for top initiatives—helping teams define goals, coordinate across workstreams, and resolve issues before they escalate.
- Facilitate decision-making when tradeoffs arise across departments, ensuring leadership stays focused on the highest-value work.
- Drive issue resolution, unblock dependencies, and ensure fast, informed decisions.
- Scale How We Operate-Build repeatable frameworks and processes for how the company scopes, tracks, and reviews our most complex and important projects (tools, templates, dashboards, playbooks).
- Define a consistent approach to cross-functional execution that increases clarity and velocity without adding red tape.
- Lead change management efforts when priorities shift, ensuring downstream impacts are managed and teams stay coordinated.
- Act as the Operating "Control Tower": Monitor execution across our biggest priorities—surfacing risks, bottlenecks, and misalignment early.
- Run forums and exec updates that keep stakeholders informed, accountable, and focused on results.
- Drive a culture of transparency, urgency, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in business operations, strategy, or management consulting.
- Track record of driving strategic planning and operational rigor in high-growth, cross-functional environments.
- Exceptional ability to drive results- organize chaos, bring clarity to ambiguity, and connect the dots across teams.
- Strong communication skills and executive presence—you know how to influence without authority.
- Systems mindset—you think in frameworks, but know when to tailor to fit the situation.
The United States new hire base salary target ranges for this full-time position are:
Zone A: $161,410 - $228,000 + equity + benefits
Zone B: $177,551 - $250,800 + equity + benefits
Zone C: $193,692 - $273,600 + equity + benefits
Zone D: $209,833 - $296,400 + equity + benefits
This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for candidates based on their respective Zone. Below is additional information on Included Health's commitment to maintaining transparent and equitable compensation practices across our distinct geographic zones.
Starting base salary for the successful candidate will depend on several job-related factors, unique to each candidate, which may include, but not limited to, education; training; skill set; years and depth of experience; certifications and licensure; business needs; internal peer equity; organizational considerations; and alignment with geographic and market data. Compensation structures and ranges are tailored to each zone's unique market conditions to ensure that all employees receive fair and competitive compensation based on their roles and locations. In addition to earning a base salary, this role is eligible for a performance-based bonus. Details of the Annual Bonus Plan, including performance metrics, target incentives, and potential earnings, will be discussed during the interview process.
