Tax Manager

Solo Brands is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tax Manager to join our finance organization. This role is a unique opportunity to own and operate across the full spectrum of tax responsibilities for a portfolio of premium lifestyle brands, including Solo Stove, Chubbies, Oru Kayak, and ISLE Paddle Boards.

Reporting directly to the Director of Tax, this role is designed for a hands-on tax professional who thrives in an individual contributor capacity while operating with the scope and accountability of a manager. You will play a critical role in ensuring compliance, supporting strategic initiatives, and building scalable processes across domestic tax matters.

Note: This is a hybrid role so to be considered you must live within a commutable distance to our Grapevine, TX corporate office.

Key Responsibilities

Income Tax Compliance & Provision

  • Manage federal and state income tax compliance, including preparation, review, and filing processes
  • Support quarterly and annual tax provision processes in accordance with ASC 740
  • Partner with external advisors as needed to ensure accurate and timely filings

Process Ownership & Optimization

  • Own and improve tax processes, controls, and documentation
  • Identify opportunities for automation and increased efficiency
  • Ensure readiness for audits and maintain organized supporting documentation

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Accounting, Finance, Legal, and external advisors on tax-related matters
  • Provide guidance on tax implications of business initiatives, new markets, and product launches

Audit & Risk Management

  • Support federal and state tax audits
  • Proactively identify and mitigate tax risks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 4-5 years of relevant tax experience
  • 2+ years of experience in provisions
  • Background in retail, eCommerce, consumer products, hospitality, or restaurant industries strongly preferred
  • Alternatively, experience from a public accounting firm with exposure to relevant industries
  • Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state tax regulations
  • Experience with tax provision processes (ASC 740)
  • Willing to learn indirect tax
