What is the role?

CAMP is looking for an Omni-channel Assistant Buyer for Toys. This position will help support the Merchandising Team through buying, analytics, and administrative functions. The assistant buyer will possess a high degree of flexibility and initiative, attention to detail, and have a passion for product. You will report to CAMP’s Director of Merchandising and work on the CAMP Labs team. This position will be based in New York City (hybrid.)

What will you do at CAMP?

  • Provide administrative support for the Merchandising team including sample management, reporting, item setup, PO placement, and order management.
  • Set the Omni-channel assortment strategy for key categories within the Toy Department.
  • Analyze reporting, industry trends, and insights from our stores to identify trends and use this information to inform product decisions and actionable ideas to drive business across your categories.
  • Independently build positive vendor relationships, onboard new partners, effectively influence vendors, maintain our existing assortment, and procure new products. This includes heavy interaction with vendors to solve problems and follow-up as needed.
  • Work closely with the Planning team to forecast sales, margin, inventory flow and OTB for overall business (both stores and online).
  • Partner with our Visual Merchandising Manager on creating storytelling experiences within your product categories and identify the need for signage, fixtures and demos prior to in store execution.
  • Work closely with Ecomm and Marketing teams to bring to life key product/brand launches.
  • Manage item creation, PO placement, PO maintenance and order tracking as needed across all departments.
  • Developing strong, cross functional relationships to help drive product programs and deliver on buying objectives
  • Occasional travel to market to visit vendors and attend trade shows

What will you bring to CAMP?

  • 1-2 years previous work experience in Buying/Merchandising
  • You are product obsessed
  • You have a strong understanding of how to bring storytelling to life both in stores and online through visual merchandising practices
  • You have experience in creating collaborations/partnerships with vendor partners (first to market/exclusive opportunities)
  • You have strong knowledge and understanding of Private Label business
  • You are a self directed multi-tasker who is organized and can prioritize work needs efficiently
  • You pride yourself on being reliable and exceeding standards. You care about the quality, accuracy and completeness of your work
  • You are eager to dive into reporting and understand the levers that drive business
  • You are prone to action. If you see a problem or opportunity your instinct is to quickly evaluate the situation and take action with a sense of urgency before being asked or required to do so
  • You are agile, flexible and embrace switching gears in order to jump in where needed
  • You have a great rapport with people and enjoy building and maintaining relationships
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and/or Keynote and Google Products
