The Role

BuzzFeed is seeking a highly skilled Post Production Manager to lead our dynamic post production team. The ideal candidate will excel in technical problem-solving, particularly with Adobe Creative Cloud and Post Production tools and possess a deep understanding of internal storage systems and workflows. This position will be based in Los Angeles and will be primarily in-office based. Night and weekend work may be requested but will be offset when required.

You Will

  • Directly manage post production team resources, including Assistant Video Editors, Video Editors, Post Production Supervisors, and Coordinators
  • Advise on Post Production infrastructure as well as storage solutions + workflows
  • Ensure that assets are being tracked and archived properly across the company
  • Oversee logistical planning, resource allocation, and technology + tools implementation.
  • Collaborate with Operations leads to develop video product timelines and budgets
  • Monitor costs, reporting on current spend and projected spend for departmental cost and hardware/software
  • Manage vendor relationships with active and future subscriptions
  • Develop, implement and train on standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across departments.
  • Facilitate communication between departments to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Manage forecasting, staffing resources, and workflow optimization.
  • Oversee training programs for new hires in post production
  • Handle administrative tasks, including paperwork and team expense management.
  • Identify issues promptly and propose effective solutions

You Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Communication, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of management experience in post production.
  • Comprehensive understanding of post production and production processes and equipment.
  • Proficient in project management tools like Airtable, Jira, Zendesk, Basecamp, and Float.
  • Proven experience in creating and executing post production budgets.
  • Advanced knowledge of Mac OS and Adobe Creative Cloud apps, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Media Encoder, and After Effects.
  • Familiarity with codecs, image types, resolutions, and frame rates relevant to digital media.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving timelines and deliverables.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills within a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficient in tech and automation tools, emphasizing organization and detail orientation.
  • Proactive and positive team player, able to lead projects from start to finish independently.
  • Up-to-date with current social media and digital video platform trends.
