The Role
BuzzFeed is seeking a contract Junior Newsletter Editor to join our growing team. Newsletters are one of our most direct connections to our audience, and this role is perfect for someone who loves writing, experimenting with content formats, and thinking strategically about audience engagement.
The Junior Newsletter Editor will be responsible for producing high-quality, engaging sends across multiple newsletters each week, managing everything from subject lines to curation. The ideal candidate is equal parts writer, editor, and strategist — with a knack for blending brand voice, data insights, and creative instincts into content readers look forward to opening. This is an NYC-based position with 1-2 days in the office.
You Will
- Write and deploy 13 newsletters per week with consistent quality, tone, and brand voice.
- Produce 3 additional monthly sends, ensuring they align with audience expectations and company goals.
- Edit subject lines with minimal guidance, demonstrating fluency in BuzzFeed’s voice and tone.
- Use ESP (Email Service Provider) platforms to build, manage, and segment campaigns.
- Apply basic HTML skills (or willingness to learn) to edit and troubleshoot newsletter templates.
- Use basic Photoshop skills to create or modify newsletter assets as needed.
- Monitor and analyze newsletter performance metrics to refine strategy and maximize engagement.
- Execute A/B tests to optimize subject lines, content structure, and overall performance.
- Create mockups for sold advertising campaigns, collaborating with sales and design teams as needed.
You Have
- 2+ years of experience in newsletters, digital media, or content production.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Familiarity with ESP platforms.
- A comfort level with (or eagerness to learn) basic HTML and Photoshop.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple recurring deadlines.
- An interest in analytics, testing, and optimization.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to partner with editorial, design, and sales teams
