The Role

We’re seeking an experienced Sr. Ad Operations Lead with deep expertise in programmatic advertising, particularly Private Marketplaces (PMPs) and Preferred Deals (PD). This role is pivotal in driving revenue growth through streamlined ad delivery, deal optimization, and collaboration with sales and tech teams.

As the Ad Ops Lead, you’ll own the end-to-end execution and troubleshooting programmatic campaigns across our suite of digital properties: BuzzFeed, Tasty and HuffPost. You’ll serve as the subject matter expert on deal health, targeting strategies and SSP capabilities, ensuring delivery and performance across campaigns. This is a full-time, hybrid position, with the expectation of commuting to our New York City office at least twice a week.

You Will

  • Lead the setup, management, and optimization of programmatic PMP, PD and PG campaigns across various SSPs and DSPs.

  • Act as the technical liaison between account management and external partners to ensure accurate and timely campaign launches.

  • Collaborate with sales and larger ad operations teams to analyze data, identify revenue opportunities, and recommend optimizations.

  • Monitor deal performance, troubleshoot delivery issues, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.

  • Maintain expertise in SSP functionality (e.g., Google Ads Manager (AdX), Magnite, Xandr, PubMatic) and ensure best practices are followed.

  • Build and maintain deal documentation, troubleshooting playbooks, and technical support processes.

  • Stay current with industry trends in programmatic media, data targeting, and ad tech integrations.

You Have

  • 4+ years of experience in Ad Operations, preferably in a publisher environment.

  • Strong hands-on experience with PMP/PD setup and optimization in Google Ads Manager and major SSPs.

  • Deep understanding of the programmatic ecosystem including targeting and floor pricing strategies.

  • Proficiency in ad server tools, SSP dashboards, and analytics platforms.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with sales, tech, and external partners.

  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and project execution.

  • Curious and eager to learn about the publishing and programmatic space.
