Where do we need help?
The Allbirds Creative Studio is a multidisciplinary group of talented creatives that obsess over bringing the Allbirds brand to life. We are looking for an Art Director to come join us along this journey. We’re looking for an AD to lead the artistic output from concept to completion. This person is responsible for developing concepts into creative solutions while ensuring objectives are met across key brand channels. You are a forward-thinking powerhouse and highly skilled designer that will support the creative director in developing the brand. This role will support our creative, marketing, and performance teams in creating world-class assets, content, and campaigns.
What does the job entail?
- Responsible for conceptualizing the campaigns and the visuals of the brand
- Support the global and local teams in asset and content creation
- Concept, design, and art direct high-impact assets and content for product launches, including product photography for digital, studio lifestyle, still life photography, advertising banners, video content, and 1-2 tv ads annually
- Collaborate with both strategy and channel leads to understanding channel best practices to deliver creative that meets our business goals and satisfies our brand approach from top to bottom
- Partner closely with other disciplines within the Creative team (including Brand Design, Copy, Production, and UX) as well as other key stakeholders throughout Allbirds to ensure cross-functional integration and strategic implementation of the Allbirds brand
- Set an example of creative excellence that inspires and guides a team of creatives to always reach for the highest brand standards
- Leading and participating in brainstorming sessions
- Design and development of creative materials
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, merchandising, business, or other related field
- 5+ years of experience in a creative leadership role for multi-channel brand or retailer, specializing in fashion, with a proven track record of high-quality design and content creation
- A strong portfolio, including finished product and creative briefs, demonstrating a passion and understanding of apparel and the ability to execute vision.
- Demonstrated creative expertise in a broad array of areas, including multi-channel campaigns, retail environment, packaging, and web design
- Understanding of the process that takes the insights from a product, markets, and customers and pushes it from concept to execution - storyboard - location - casting - styling - photography, and film
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a diverse creative team of designers and writers, as well as develop designers from a technical perspective
- Strong, creative design sense for premium products.
- Practical experience managing a global brand and collaborating with various stakeholders to balance global consistency with local relevancy
- Good eye for detail, without losing sight of the big picture
- Experience managing third-party partners, agencies, and freelancers
- Highly organized with good project management skills. Able to juggle multiple, and sometimes, conflicting priorities with limited oversight
- Can thrive in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment
- Proven ability to adapt quickly to ambiguity and allocate time to execute multiple tasks and changing priorities
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interface with all levels of the organization
- Proficient with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skilled in Adobe Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, as well as Keynote
Work Environment
Work takes place in an office setting. This job may require working more than 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours a week. It requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time and communicate effectively with a diverse audience in person, by phone and by computer. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift, push, and carry up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 15 lbs occasionally.
What do we offer?
In Office: The pay range for this role is: $142,000- $155,000 and must be performed in our Portland, OR corporate office.
Allbirds routinely evaluates pay rates, and the ranges are subject to change based on market rates and other considerations. We factor in a number of components when determining starting pay, including the job and level you are hired into, location, skillset, experience and peer compensation.
