About the Company

Aerflo is redefining hydration on the go with the world's first portable soda maker that turns still water into sparkling water anytime, anywhere. Rooted in innovation, good design, and sustainability, we're building a future where sparkling water is more accessible, less wasteful, and infinitely more enjoyable.

About the Role

We're hiring a Retention & Subscription Lead to own Aerflo's DTC growth engine across subscription, retention, and the full dot-com experience, anchored on our newly launched CO2 refill subscription program.

You'll own how Aerflo converts device buyers into subscribers, keeps them active, and brings them back, acting as the connective tissue across email, SMS, web, and the launch calendar. You'll diagnose where buyers drop off on the path to their first refill, test the offers, pricing, and on-site placements that move sign-up rate, and build the email and SMS journeys that drive repeat capsule purchases.

This is a hands-on, build-it role on a team that's still forming. You'll partner closely with the Performance Lead on the path into subscription, with engineering and product on subscription and site UX, and with creative. This role reports to the VP of Marketing with a direct line to the cofounders, working hand in hand with CX, engineering, and creative.

Build & Own the Subscription Program

  • Own Aerflo's CO2 refill subscription end to end: offer design, cadence, pricing, onboarding, activation, billing logic, and the skip/swap/pause/cancel flows that determine whether subscribers stay or churn.
  • Get the quantity-and-frequency mix right, match pack sizes and cadence to real drinker profiles so subscribers aren't over- or under-supplied, the single biggest driver of replenishment churn.
  • Test and iterate on subscription offers, pricing, and incentives to improve sign-up rate and LTV.
  • Assess the freshly launched program, decide what to keep, kill, and rebuild, and shape the subscription stack and roadmap the way it needs to be built.
  • Partner with engineering and product on subscription UX changes that move the conversion needle.

Retention & Lifecycle Marketing (Email & SMS)

  • Own Klaviyo end to end, segmentation, flow design, campaign calendar, and hands-on build. You'll be in the platform building and shipping, not just briefing an agency.
  • Build and optimize lifecycle flows across email and SMS spanning welcome, first-refill activation, replenishment reminders, milestone moments, winback, and reactivation.
  • Drive both new subscription conversions and repeat one-time CO2 capsule purchases through lifecycle messaging.
  • Maintain a testing roadmap that compounds repeat purchase, list growth, and engagement over time.
  • Partner with Creative to keep every touchpoint on-brand and on-voice while hitting performance targets.
  • Stay current on retention best practices and compliance (TCPA, CAN-SPAM, GDPR).

Retain Subscribers & Reduce Churn

  • Identify churn risk early using behavioral and usage data, and build the flows that re-engage at-risk subscribers before they cancel.
  • Optimize the skip, swap, pause, and cancel flows so a would-be churn becomes a pause or a pushed-out ship date, not a lost customer.
  • Recover failed and lapsed subscriptions, dunning, payment recovery, and winback programs that bring customers back before you have to re-acquire them.
  • Develop a structured experimentation agenda, A/B testing, segmentation, and personalization, that compounds retention improvements over time.

Web Experience

  • Own the on-site subscription and refill experience: how quantity, frequency, and pack options are merchandised, how sign-up rate is optimized, and how the path to first refill converts.
  • Partner with dev and product on day-to-day execution, PDP updates, subscription widget setup, on-site promo and seasonal moments as we relaunch a fully rebuilt site.
  • Bring CRO discipline to the .com: test placements, pricing displays, and merchandising (e.g., recommended pack size by drinker profile) and defend the results with data.
  • Partner with the Performance Lead so landing pages and on-site experiences support and convert paid traffic.

Launch Planning & Cross-Channel Coordination

  • Own the DTC retention and lifecycle calendar, refill pushes, promotions, brand moments, and seasonal campaigns, and the execution plans behind them.
  • Coordinate lifecycle across email, SMS, and web for the relaunch and beyond: timelines, briefs, deliverables, and dependencies.
  • Be the glue between Performance, Creative, CX, engineering, and Operations on integrated programs.
  • Stay close to Operations and CX so launches and refill cycles run smoothly and issues get addressed quickly and thoughtfully.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Own the retention and subscription KPIs, churn rate, subscriber LTV, reactivation rate, repeat purchase rate, sign-up rate, and email/SMS revenue contribution, and report weekly to the team and monthly to leadership.
  • Think in cohorts and churn curves, translate behavioral data into campaigns that move the numbers, and defend the math.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years in lifecycle, retention, or CRM at a DTC consumer brand with a replenishment or subscription model.
  • Experience running lifecycle, CRM, or subscription at a CPG startup with both a hardware/device and a consumable/refill SKU (connected appliances + pods, beverage systems + refills, devices + replenishment).
  • You understand the device-to-refill conversion curve from the inside. (Strongly preferred; deep replenishment-subscription experience in an adjacent model considered.)
  • Deep, hands-on Klaviyo expertise. You've built flows, segmented audiences, and shipped campaigns yourself, not just briefed an agency.
  • Hands-on experience with subscription program mechanics: offer architecture, billing logic, dunning/recovery, and skip/swap/pause/cancel flows, whether you built a program from scratch or drove meaningful optimization to an existing one.
  • Strong on-site A/B testing and CRO instincts. You've run structured experimentation on subscription sign-up flows and can defend the math.
  • Comfortable inheriting a freshly launched program with limited proof of what's working. You can diagnose what to keep, kill, and rebuild from a few weeks of messy launch data.
  • You live in the modern DTC stack (Shopify, Klaviyo, GA4, attribution and analytics tools) and are comfortable briefing freelance creative and partnering with agencies when it makes sense.
  • Strong program management and coordination skills, you can own a calendar and keep cross-functional launches on track.
  • You see lifecycle as brand-building, not just revenue. You know how to design welcome flows and milestones that resonate, and you protect the brand voice even when you don't write every line.
  • You thrive in scrappy, fast-paced environments and know how to prioritize what moves the business.
  • A passion for beverage, CPG, and well-built customer experiences.
  • NYC-based is a plus, our team sits in Dumbo and we'd love you in a few days a week, but we're open to remote for the right candidate.
