About the Role
We're looking for a Retention & Subscription Lead to build and scale the refills engine behind Aerflo's hardware. You'll architect Aerflo's CO2 refill subscription program, design the lifecycle strategy that turns first-time hardware buyers into long-term refill subscribers, and build the email and SMS experience that reinforces the Aerflo brand at every step of the customer journey.
Reporting to the VP of Marketing, you'll work closely with the cofounders, CX, engineering and creative.
Responsibilities
Build & Own the Subscription Program
- Own Aerflo's CO2 refill subscription program, including offer design, cadence, pricing, customer onboarding, activation, billing logic, and the skip/swap/pause/cancel flows that determine whether subscribers stay or churn.
- Continuously test and optimize subscription offers, pricing tiers, and incentives to maximize conversion, LTV, and retention.
- Partner with Product and CX to ensure the subscription experience is seamless across the device, the refill flow, and customer support.
Drive Retention & Lifecycle Marketing
- Own retention strategy end-to-end: identify churn risks early using behavioral and usage data, and build the campaigns and flows that re-engage at-risk subscribers before they cancel.
- Design and execute winback, reactivation, and routine-based messaging programs that bring lapsed customers back.
- Develop a structured experimentation agenda: A/B testing, segmentation, and personalization that compounds retention improvements over time.
Grow Email & SMS as a Revenue Channel
- Own the Klaviyo CRM ecosystem including segmentation, flow design, calendar planning, and creative briefing.
- Build and personalize lifecycle campaigns across email and SMS that drive both subscription conversion and one-time purchase revenue.
- Identify and design the moments in the lifecycle around welcome, first refill, milestone, reactivation that create meaningful connection to Aerflo.
- Partner with Creative to ensure every touchpoint is on-brand, on-voice, and elevated.
Analytics & Reporting
- Own key retention KPIs (churn rate, subscriber LTV, reactivation rate, repeat purchase rate, email/SMS revenue contribution) and report on them weekly to the team and monthly to leadership.
Qualifications
- 3+ years in subscription, lifecycle, or retention at a DTC consumer brand. Ideally one with a replenishment model (consumer hardware with consumables, CPG, beverage, pet, kitchen/home appliances).
- Hands-on experience with subscription program mechanics, offer architecture, billing logic, skip/swap/cancel flows, whether you built a program from scratch or drove meaningful optimization to an existing one.
- You've owned Klaviyo hands-on and you live in the modern DTC stack (Shopify, GA4, attribution/analytics tools). You're comfortable briefing freelance creative and partnering with agencies when it makes sense.
- You think in cohorts and churn curves. You can translate behavioral data into campaigns that move the numbers, and you can defend the math.
- You see lifecycle as brand-building, not just revenue. You know how to design welcome flows and milestones that resonate.
- You know what makes a subject line worth opening, even if you don't write every one yourself. Your creative instincts are sharp and your brand voice is protected.
- You thrive in scrappy, fast-paced environments and you know how to prioritize what moves the business.
- You are authorized to work in the United States. Brooklyn-based is a plus, our team sits in Dumbo and we'd love to have you in a few days a week, but we're open to remote for the right candidate.
Compensation will be determined by experience and demonstrated impact. Includes performance bonus, 401(k), and full health benefits.
